EMILY LARAS
Emily is an abstract artist currently living and working in South Jakarta, Indonesia.
Growing up in a musical family, Emily discovered her artistic voice through various forms such as music, dance, and musical theatre. While pursuing a career as a performing artist, she found solace in design and jewelry making, eventually making it her full-time focus.
Amidst her dynamic pursuits, painting emerged as a tranquil escape. Emily views art creation as a meditative journey, experimenting with diverse techniques before settling into contemporary abstract art. Her current artistic expression is deeply rooted in her reverence for life's subtle moments.
Emily's creative process begins by immersing herself in sensory experiences, capturing visual memories, textures, sounds, and scents. She then translates these impressions into colors and movements, applying acrylic, ink, and pastels on raw canvas. Her choice of neutral and earthy tones reflects nature, drawing inspiration from the soil, sky and water.
